āœØInktober & Drawing BootcampāœØ

Wow, werenā€™t those a lot of updates?! Iā€™m already tired (but still working!) from the whirlwind this month has been. I love Halloween so much, Iā€™ve turned it into a huge part of my business (witches? cats? magic? hello!) and now every October Iā€™m exhausted, haha! But thatā€™s on me folks! You best believe Iā€™m looking forward to resting the first couple of days of November.

Some other things Iā€™ve been working on in the background during this month is Inktober (as Iā€™m sure some of you are as well). If youā€™ve never heard of it, itā€™s where you break out your ink pens every October and complete 1 ink illustration a day. Iā€™ve decided to dust off my old project from the archives and complete the long awaited Magikats! Coloring Book! So far, I have kept the pace and completed 24 illustrations (and have another one to complete tonight). The best part is grabbing that thick pile of ink illustrations and going through it everyday, reflecting on the hard work that birthed creation. The process itself is ruthless and brutal and definitely like a bootcamp because if you take a day off (which I have), your workload immediately doubles the next day! No rest for the wicked.

Before October, I found myself in a bit of a creation slump as I wasnā€™t feeling as primed for creativity as before. I wasnā€™t drawing nearly as much or creating. I used the time wisely though to focus on expanding exhibiting in person more, chasing new inspirations and considering the directions of my creations in 2023. Dreaming is always a fruitful time and the most freeing and limitless. Itā€™s when we try to grab our dreams from the heavens, pull them down to Earth and make them manifest that can be grueling but rewarding and rarely is any artist satisfied with their execution. I love the dreaming phase, but since itā€™s not real, it lacks long term gratification. And back to work is where I often find myself.

So I had gotten rusty on my drawing. For some ding dang olā€™ reason, I thought it was a wise decision to embark on a Figure Drawing Bootcamp in October IN ADDITION to Inktober IN ADDITION to new products and events! Shocking I know. The audacity of that past Eilie! So yea, despite this insane pressure and the odds, I have stayed faithful and on track and on Halloween I will film a Vlog to go over my Inktober and Figure Drawing Bootcamp creations, experiences and reflections into what should ultimately end up being an entertaining video. Oh, Iā€™ll be in my Halloween costume too, cause tis the season!
